How do I get a real estate license in the state of Kentucky?
- Be at least 18 years of age
- have attained a high school diploma or GED equivalency.
- Candidates who have completed at least 28 credit hours at a post secondary institution may submit a copy of the transcript in lieu of the high school or GED.
- have completed six semester credit hours in real estate courses from an accredited college or university OR 96 classroom hours in real estate courses from a Kentucky Approved Proprietary School.

How do I take the pre-license course?
You can take the pre-license course at an approved school in a classroom setting, or through an online course. When you successfully complete the pre-license course, you will be required to take a state exam. If you pass the state exam you will be issued a salespersons license. You must affiliate with a broker who will actually hold your license.
How long is the course?
In a classroom setting, it can range from a few weeks to a month or more, depending on whether you take all-day or evening/weekend classes. Whether in a classroom, online, or a combination of both, it is a 96 hour course.

In addition, when you join the Greater Owensboro Realtor Association, you will incur an application fee and prorated annual dues. You may need to make an investment in technology tools -a laptop, supra key, etc. New agents should always have at least 6 months of expenses in reserve. It can take a few months to get your business going.
